Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a challenging period, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term trainer Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.
Victory also means he has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.
But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an enhanced service.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to force a decider.
Moutet saved 4 initial opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
