Matteo Cancellieri Displays Brief Sparks of Brilliance in Positive Aspect for Haywire Lazio

The atmosphere at Lazio's home ground was far from happy during the weekend fixture. Lazio were trailing against Torino, a team that had let in a total of 10 goals while netting just two in their last five league matches. Supporters from the Curva Nord were finishing their most recent demonstration in a continuous dispute with president Claudio Lotito.

This Year's Efforts Coming Unstitched?

Had their campaign unraveling, or had there never been any cohesion keeping it intact to start with? Lazio reinstated Maurizio Sarri as head coach during the off-season, before he admitted that the club had omitted to inform him about a registration embargo they were set to be hit with for fiscal problems. Speculation that he might quit were not true, but he stated that Lotito had "deceived" him.

The Biancocelesti appeared equally disorganized during matches as they were off it, overcoming Verona 4-0 and Genoa 3-0 but being defeated in their other first five games, which included the capital clash. Throughout this period, it has been hard to determine if they are improving or collapsing.

Matteo's Unexpected Presence

At least one man continued to smile throughout. Matteo Cancellieri wasn't originally meant to be at Lazio during this campaign. He spent last season on loan at Parma and, early this summer, his owning club were advocating for him to extend his stay a while longer. The registration embargo necessitated a reconsideration. They were unable to weaken their team without replacements.

He signed in the first place when Sarri was last in charge, then a 20-year-old product of Verona's academy. He accumulated 20 matches in the league for Lazio in that campaign, almost all of those coming off the bench. The ex- sporting director, Igli Tare, whose tenure ended at the end of that season, subsequently claimed Sarri of "telling everyone Cancellieri had superstar potential then never playing him."

Finding His Natural Fit

Maybe Sarri was continuing to attempt to work out the exact type of the player's talent. Billed as a wide forward when he joined, Cancellieri nevertheless spent the majority of that term as an ineffective backup to Ciro Immobile at No 9. Across 63 games while playing for Empoli and Parma during recent campaigns, he netted seven goals. Shoehorn
