Cars in German City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities stated they were contacted by a individual who found a car in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Officers then found many other smeared cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials say preliminary tests show the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.

City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.

An important representative commented the incident left him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
